| What is Speed Razor? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Speed Razor is a non linear
editor and compositor that runs on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT and Windows 2000.
Speed Razor is an editor. This means that it allows you to sequence material and adjust material using a variety of editing tools. Speed Razor works with a variety of material including video images, scanned photographs, graphics, text elements (CG), animations, still images, image sequences and audio. It is a non destructive editor which means that it is designed not to alter any of the source material that you add to the program. If you want to make a change to an item, then the program creates a new file behind the scenes without affecting the original material. This means that you can work in confidence knowing that your original material will never be destroyed. You can always go back and re-adjust the original material. Non linear refers to the fact that you can edit or adjust any of the material in the project in any order that you want. You don't have to start at the beginning of your project and work through. You can start in the middle, end or where ever you want. Speed Razor is a compositor. This means that it has the ability to composite video, CG and images together. It contains a number of tools to do this including support for 32 bit alpha channels, travelling mattes, garbage mattes, transparency levels and a chroma keyer. |

| Logging Log your tapes using an RS 422 control cable and your controllable deck. Speed Razor can save your log in the Speed Razor project and with some hardware devices, it can save the timecode of the clip directly in the media file so that when that file is imported into a new project it will automatically build that item into the batch capture list. |

| Batch capture Once a log has been created Speed Razor can automatically batch capture the video and audio items from a controllable deck and digitize them to your hard drive. |

| Media management In order to assist with the management of your media, Speed Razor allows you to assign separate drives for your video, audio, video offline media, audio offline media, graphics and project files. This gives you the ability to manage your media across your entire network. There are also third party tools for separating the media used in your project from those items which are not used. |
